FilAm Diaspora is an on-going project managed and created by me. This project consists of a website, podcast, and two (2)
promotional posters, all of which focus on the erasure of Filipino identity among the 2nd generation of Filipino Americans. FilAm is short for Filipino American and diaspora refers to the dispersion of people from their homeland.
The goal for this project is to create a safe space within the community for others to sympathize and be heard. This is done by educating others about the rich history and culture of the Philippines, influencing future generations to embrace their heritage, and connecting people of different generations of the diaspora. This project was also presented at the National Conference of Undergrad Research.
Target Audience and References

Characteristics focus on those that identify as a 2nd generation FilAm that has assimilated to American culture. More specifically: Gen Z to Millennials. The most important factor is the lack of connection and knowledge of the FilAm community.
This gap stems from a number of reasons such as colonialism, unwelcome by the community, and just simply being uninterested. Knowing the audience has helped me to decide the content and how to present said content of this project by collecting resources into one easily accessible website and podcast.

The contents of these posters include two dances from the Maranoa Community of the Philippines, I wanted to showcase that Philippines has more to offer than simply Tinikling. If you CLICK ON THE LOGO it will redirect you to the website.

Thumbnail design I created for the podcast and also background elements that I created for the website.
